Reactive Rovers: A Course for Dogs Who Struggle on Leash
Does your dog bark, lunge, or overreact when they see other dogs? Do walks feel more stressful than enjoyable? You’re not alone—and this 5-session course is here to help.
We’ll start with a private one-on-one coaching session to understand your dog’s specific needs and set you both up for success. Then, over the next four weeks, you’ll join a small group class in a carefully managed environment designed to support progress at your dog’s pace.
The first group session with dogs begins on June 4.
This class is ideal for dogs who are reactive toward other dogs while on leash. Let us help you turn those chaotic walks into calm, confident outings.
Proof of vaccinations (Distemper, Parvovirus, DHPP & Rabies) required.
New for summer 2026 – Polite in Public.
Real-World Dog Training in Rutland & Killington, Vermont
Dreaming of enjoying breweries, hiking trails, outdoor cafés, farmers markets, vacations, or community events with your dog — without worrying about pulling, barking, overexcitement, or unpredictable behavior?
Polite in Public is a semi-private, real-world dog training class at Mountainside Mutts designed to help dogs and handlers build confidence and practical manners out in the world. Rather than practicing only inside a training room, we work in everyday environments where dogs need these skills most.
Using modern, humane, rewards-based training methods, we focus on real-life skills such as:
- Loose leash walking around distractions
- Calm greetings with people and dogs
- Settling quietly in public spaces
- Improved focus and responsiveness outdoors
- Confidence in new environments
- Appropriate public access behavior for Service Dogs in Training
Small class sizes allow for individualized coaching, thoughtful setups, and a supportive learning environment tailored to each team’s needs.
This class is ideal for dogs who have completed a basic manners course or already have foundational training skills and are ready to practice them in the real world.
