Training polite manners to young puppies

Puppy Start Right is a unique group learning and socialization opportunity for puppies 8 to 16 weeks of age, and Mountainside Mutts is the only dog training school in Vermont offering this program.

Worried about your puppy’s health? By delaying training, your puppy may be at greater risk of developing behavioral problems than contracting an infectious disease. Please read this position statement from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.

Puppy Start Right Preschool

The first weeks after you bring your new puppy home are life-changing. What does or doesn’t happen in this crucial period will determine the adult dog your puppy will become.

Our Puppy Start Right Preschool will expose your young dog to new experiences in a safe, fun and positive way. Each session of this 4 week program includes: play, foundational training, exploration, problem prevention discussion and puppy parenting tips.

Proof of Distemper, Parvovirus, DHPP vaccinations will be required before attending your first session.

Fun Tricks

Our 6 session Tricks class is a fun course for students with some training already. It is a great way to continue learning, playing and enjoying being with your dog beyond a basic manners course. Trick dog training can help shy dogs gain confidence; hyperactive dogs become more focused, and competition dogs feel more relaxed. Pet dog guardians gain confidence and have fun with their dogs while increasing the bond they share. The course is suitable for all ages and abilities and is both a great physical and mental workout for your pup. No aggressive, reactive, or overly fearful dogs. No females in heat.

Proof of vaccinations (Distemper, Parvovirus, DHPP & Rabies) required.
